Summer Workshop: Introduction to Biomechanics


Proper Job is excited to be delivering a two-day workshop at Manchester’s Zion Arts Centre on 15th and 16th July. The workshop will be delivered by Proper Job Director and former protégé of Master Gennadi Bogdanov, James Beale. Participants will learn the key elements of Biomechanics including how to:

• Refine physical control and balance
• Advance rhythmic awareness
• Improve responsiveness to other performers, audience and external stimuli

The workshop is a rare opportunity to train under the tutelage of one of the foremost teachers of Biomechanics in the UK.
No previous experience of biomechanics is necessary, however, participants should be aware this course is physically demanding and requires strength and stamina.

Biomechanics Workshops

James Beale and Chloe Whitehead, Directors of Proper Job and formally Talia, are former protégés of Master Gennadi Bogdanov, the last living link to Meyerhold. Their years of dedicated biomechanics training put them at the country’s forefront of training in the method.

James and Chloe can run both beginner and advanced workshops in the biomechanical technique as part of performing arts, community arts and drama degree courses at Huddersfield, Lancaster, Liverpool and Newcastle Universities. Proper Job also organises its own training for actors in Manchester, Huddersfield and London.
