Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education can sometimes seem like an ‘add on’ without a specifically trained teacher to focus the curriculum and yet the reasons for PSHCE are clear. It gives “young people the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy and independent lives”. This is also true of Social, Emotional and Behavioural skills or SEBs “The social and emotional aspects of learning are key areas which need to be developed in children so they can learn effectively.”
