Biomechanics Workshops

Proper Job has merged with Talia Theatre, a company that has adopted the biomechanical technique in all their theatre work. This knowledge gained by the merger has already contributed to the success of Brave New Word, Dracula and We won the Cup.

Biomechanics is a means of refining the actor's balance and physical control, rhythmic awareness and responsiveness to other performers, audience and external stimuli.

Theatrical Biomechanics, developed by Meyerhold, is a technique that has been written about endlessly but rarely ever used for performance after the 1930’s. Talia’s work with Gennadi Bogdanov aims to present this technique as a living dynamic expression of the actor on stage.

Proper Job has run both beginner and advanced workshops in biomechanical technique as part of performing arts, community arts and drama degree courses at Huddersfield, Lancaster, Liverpool and Newcastle Universities.

Following the sell-out success of the last five years, Proper Job once again invites actors to a weekend of workshops in Meyerhold's Biomechanics on the 27th and 28th September ’08.
