Proper Job Theatre Company was established in 1985. The company has a history of profound engagement creating exciting projects using theatre to inspire change.
We are the only company in the UK that uses Meyerhold’s Theatrical Biomechanics. The ensemble of actors is a highly trained group that creates work which is risky and imaginative. Above all, our style is theatrical and what we do is accessible, passionate, and emotionally engages with our audiences.

I graduated from Middlesex University in 1995 where I studied Theatre and English Literature. Following this I spent a year in a camper van travelling round Europe training with as many theatre practitioners as possible and earning a living performing street theatre. During this time I trained with a number of inspiring companies and people including Garzenice theatre in Poland, Antonio Fava in Italy and Gennadi Bogdanov. It was Meyerhold's theatrical Biomechanics which really excited me and I have been training and working with Gennadi Bogdanov ever since.
Returning from Europe, myself and Jamie set up Talia Theatre giving us an opportunity to further develop our street theatre, Theatre in Education and touring theatre. It was in 1999 when we first began working with Proper Job with the two companies merging in 2002.
I now have three children, which has kept me off the stage for a few years, however, I hope to return one of these days... if they'll still have me!

I became interested / obsessed (?) with Theatre after seeing Daniel Day-Lewis at the National Theatre in 1989. It was a time of big change for me. I was competing in the national championships in swimming and doing quite badly, then my mum suggested we went to see Hamlet. From the first moment I was completely transfixed, not with just the acting, but with everything! It inspired my imagination so much I knew I wanted to become involved in theatre.
Since then I completed a degree at Middlesex Poly, trained throughout Europe in Italy and Poland, and most importantly, started an ongoing collaboration with Gennadi Bogdnov.
Since 2005 I have directed all the shows for Proper Job. With Talia theatre I won The Creativity Works Award in 2005 and directed 7 Assilon Place in 2003, nominated Best Ensemble at Edinburgh Fringe. I still like swimming, but now compete in triathlons (very badly) and play the piano.

I have been working with Proper Job Theatre Company as a director and performer since 1998, and have appeared in many of the company's productions including Romeo and Juliet, Brave New World, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and Dracula. I studied drama at Northumbria University in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and worked in theatre and television for a range of different companies before joining Proper Job.
I love snowboarding in the Alps, and watching football, supporting Rangers and Manchester United.
