IN DEVELOPMENT
THE ILLUSTRATED MAN
Proper Job Theatre Company would like to produce a large-scale outdoor event to celebrate the Cultural Heart and Kirklees cultural sector involving local artists and arts groups, culminating in a performance by Proper Job Theatre bringing the artists' ideas to life before the audience.
Inspired by the ideas found in the book The Illustrated Man (Ray Bradbury, 1951), a tattooed man is haunted by the images covering his body, which come alive as the sun sets, telling tales of the future. Kirklees Cultural Heart will witness a 20ft Anthony Gormley-type statue standing tall and watch the images painted on his body come to life prophesising the future.

RADICAL
"Children are two-a-penny! So you lose a few...
There’s a thousand ready to replace them."
Radical follows the campaigning lives of Richard Oastler and Mary Tayham and centres on their efforts to abolish child slavery in the face of overwhelming odds, in the heat of the industrial revolution.
Proper Job are working with Yarn Productions and writer, Daniel Bray on this ambitious production which will provide opportunities for emerging artists, particularly from underrepresented backgrounds, to engage in the creative process.
