THE RAIN
Join us at Byram Arcade for an evening
of work in progress from The Rain - a
new creative project exploring climate
change, nature, resilience and our
imagined futures through movement,
music, sound and visual art.
Across the evening, artists and young
people from Kirklees will share emerging
ideas and experiments created as part
of the project. Expect an evening of rain,
rhythm, movement, sound and visions
of future worlds, with plenty of space to
experience, listen, reflect and respond.

THE ILLUSTRATED MAN
Proper Job Theatre Company would like to produce a large-scale outdoor event to celebrate the Cultural Heart and Kirklees cultural sector involving local artists and arts groups, culminating in a performance by Proper Job Theatre bringing the artists' ideas to life before the audience.
Inspired by the ideas found in the book The Illustrated Man (Ray Bradbury, 1951), a tattooed man is haunted by the images covering his body, which come alive as the sun sets, telling tales of the future. Kirklees Cultural Heart will witness a 20ft Anthony Gormley-type statue standing tall and watch the images painted on his body come to life prophesising the future.
RADICALS
New writing, theatre and live music rooted in Place, People and Cultural Heritage.
Radicals is an ambitious new theatre and music collaboration exploring Yorkshire’s radical histories through original performance. Led by artists based in Kirklees the project will explore the culture of the factory and its imprint on the arts, the language and the music of our region.
Tracing the stories of Radicals and environments they worked in, we will explore oral history capturing the voices of those people that worked in the mills and voices of those still present in living memory alongside the writing and the art of the radicals that preceded living memory and laid the foundations of modern Kirklees
A project about people who challenged the world around them and the places, songs, stories and communities that shaped them.
Proper Job are working with Yarn Productions, writer Daniel Bray, composer, Sally-Anne Edward and the all-female Brazen Brass Band on this ambitious production which will provide opportunities for emerging artists, particularly from underrepresented backgrounds, to engage in the creative process.
