The LAB Project is our unique flagship course in improving confidence and employability skills in the local community.
ABOUT
Since 1997 over 4000 people across the North of England have successfully completed the course with all participants going onto progress into employment, training, volunteering or further education.
Designed for unemployed adults aged 19+, the LAB Project is a two week course combining team working, confidence building and communication skills, working towards participants delivering a drama workshop in a school during the second week. All participants who complete the course will gain an accredited Level 1 Award in Progression.
"Very effective… underlining the important message that everyone has the skills and the talent to make a difference."
The late Paul Goggins, M.P
This is followed by development of individual action plans, a tailored progression route for each participant and follow up sessions working alongside individuals for 6 weeks following the course.
The LAB Project currently runs during term time in Kirklees, Manchester and Doncaster. For further information about upcoming courses please see our LAB Project DATES panel.
What our participants say about the opportunity:
"This course helped me find myself. I had been socially inactive for so long that I had forgotten who I really was. It helped me find my personality that I had forgotten. I had for the first time in a long time felt comfortable to actually be myself! The LAB is so unique because it really is inclusive. Challenge by Choice really spoke to me and the idea of me having the control to expand my comfort zone was like magic.
I am now socially active and my wellbeing has improved. I have had support through every step of my journey from The LAB and I now am back in work doing my dream job and supporting others with the Prince's Trust"
